Hoya. Wax ivy

Hoya. Wax ivy

An unusually beautiful climbing plant with an unusually bright color - hoya (wax ivy) has become widespread not only in Russia, but throughout the world. For some reason, employees of small state organizations fell in love with this plant and began to decorate their institutions with this vine everywhere.

Perhaps everyone has noticed the whips of the plant at post offices, savings banks, and others trying to survive. But not everyone saw how beautiful the flowering and aroma of this beauty are, because this flower requires a special approach to itself. With proper and very simple care, the hoya will certainly thank you with beautiful, like wax flowers. Hoya will bloom for a long time, about six months. The rules for caring for her are very simple.

The capricious beauty loves comfortable, warm weather (in the summer time +25, and in the winter and autumn seasons up to +15 degrees), although she can easily endure the heat. In the summertime, wax ivy can be planted outdoors.

A capricious beauty loves comfortable, warm weather.

Loves ivy and light. The plant can tolerate exposure to direct sunlight, but when burned, the leaves lose their natural color and become faded and yellowish, which will negatively affect not only the aesthetic qualities, but also the health of the ivy itself. Lack of light will also not affect the plant in the best way - the flowers will begin to fall off.

The most suitable place for hoi is the east or west windows. Plants after wintering (like those that stood in the shade) should not be sharply exposed to the sun. Such a plant must first be taught to sunlight in order to avoid a burn. It is also not worth completely isolating the hoya from the sun's rays, because for the formation of buds, the plant must receive a considerable amount of light. If you are not getting enough color, you should not expect to see amazingly beautiful flowers.

If the windows on which the capricious beauty is located are sufficiently lit, then the hoya flowers will delight until autumn. After all, it is good lighting that leads to the formation of flowers and their buds. After the flower buds have appeared, in order to avoid the fall of flowers, any movement of the plant is prohibited.

Loves ivy and light

Watering is no less important for the normal functioning of the flower. From early spring to late autumn, hoya needs generous watering. Watering is done as the clod dries out. In winter, hoya is watered a couple of days after it dries, and sometimes less often. If watering was insufficient, the plant will not bloom either, due to the fact that all the flower's strength will be spent on restoring dead roots.

Bathing the flower is equally important. The washing procedure is performed in the spring and autumn seasons. You can bathe the plant in summer. But bathing hoii during the flowering period (summer) must be done very carefully, or not at all. The flower, together with the pot, is lowered into warm (40 degrees) water. After 40 minutes, the flower is removed from the water. The pot is removed after 1.5 hours. Bathing not only perfectly hardens the plant, but also speeds up the flowering period. When performing any water procedures, you need to use only settled water.

Bathing not only perfectly hardens the plant, but also accelerates the flowering period.

For fertilizing with mineral fertilizers, the most suitable is the spring-summer season.

Hoya transplantation is an equally important step. The young plant is replanted annually in the spring. An adult hoya needs a transplant every three years. To transplant a plant, it is imperative to use a new pot, and not the one in which any other plant was grown. But in any case, the new pot must be thoroughly washed before transplanting.

To wash dishes and utensils, use a detergent without harmful additives, such as chlorine, etc. A mature plant needs to be replanted every three years. Neutral or slightly acidic soil is most comfortable for wax ivy. It is not worth spending a lot of time and effort on preparing a soil mixture that is comfortable for hoya, which has a complex composition (1 part of leaf and humus soil + 2 parts of clay-sod). Because for this beauty, garden land is also suitable. Drainage is also very beneficial for the normal functioning of the plant.

breeding hoya is easy enough

Reproduction of the plant will take a little time. In addition, it is quite easy to propagate hoya. Despite the fact that the plant will take root at any time of the year, it is more easily given to her in spring. Hoya cuttings prepared for planting, with a couple of leaves or two, are placed in the soil (2 parts of peat and 1 part of sand) or in water.

To obtain flowers in the same year, the hoyu is planted with stems, which are slightly incised (annular incision). Then the places of the incision are surrounded by moist moss. To avoid moisture loss, cover the moss with polyethylene. After the roots have sprouted, the plant can be planted. Lovers of dense and fluffy plants can plant at least 3 rooted cuttings in a pot.

Most likely the problem is in the soil. How long have they changed? Use fertilizers!

The soil must be properly done with small pebbles, water it every three days, 1 cup no more and a place with moderate lighting.

Hello, when I, like you, took a sprout, I could not wait for further growth, I thought about getting rid of it, but I didn’t have a leaf, they gave me a full-fledged branch, I waited about half a year and then I went to grow and put on a mustache at an incredible speed, so that with a leaf , it is too long. And I tried it with a leaf, it has been sitting for a year and nothing.

I cut off the stalk at the beginning of summer, put it in the water, after a while the roots appeared, planted it and literally a month later it gave a result, and now it grows just before our eyes ...

Maybe the size of a pot? Sometimes flowers work to form the root system rather than the top of the flower if the pot is too large.

Good afternoon, my flower is 19 years old, bloomed in the 6th year, I knew that for a long time - until the vines grow (north window) the most important moment when transplanting is not to damage the peduncles - they seem to freeze after flowering (flowers appear in spring and by autumn on one peduncle and in the following years in the same place) in the winter it lets huge vines to the ceiling that I had cut off earlier and this year I decided to leave it and I didn’t find how to rejuvenate the old tree. It's a pity, he was thrown from the window twice by the cat, the poor fellow hung on his vines, but he didn't even show that he was bad ...

The nectar is poisonous, though sweet. Lick the sansevieria, but don't dare with this vine!

    I am 12 years old.

It blooms well with abundant watering and when tied up. I have a meter long, but all in grones. And in neighbors on the windowsill it has grown widely, lies and does not bloom. I started to bloom as soon as I tied it up

Good time of the day. I took 5 cuttings in a pot 1.5 years ago and buds have recently appeared. The cuttings have increased slightly in length, I water every week on Monday. And on 3 out of 5 peduncles appeared.

I tore off the mustache from the flower by accident, put some of it in the water, and nailed it to the ground. 3 weeks have passed, the leaves have already given. There is a pot on the northeast window. Summer. I water abundantly, every three days. The ground is not loose, the most common. I made a conclusion. that this is how it goes better if propagated with a mustache, and not with leaves. My plant is also rampant, 5 leaves grow in one place, although it was also recently transplanted with a mustache. It seems to me that it will soon bloom.
