Flowering period

Usually, Vriezia starts to bloom in the summer, but this depends on when it was planted. If the time has come for flowering, and Vriezia does not bloom, then you need to help it - to stimulate it. This is very easy to do. Stimulation of flowering is done for all flowers of the bromelet genus by the release of ethylene gas during fruit ripening. To do this, put a ripe banana or several overripe apples near the plant and cover with a transparent bag (so that the gas does not evaporate).

Although, if you properly care for the flower, then stimulation is not needed. However, one of the reasons that Vriezia still does not bloom may be the wrong or cold location before the flowering period. For this reason, flowering is delayed or may not occur at all. But the plus in this is the development of Vriezia children, which are used for seating and reproduction.

Temperature control and lighting

Since Vriezia is thermophilic, it is enough to maintain the temperature in the room from +18 to + 22 ° С, and in summer no more than + 28 ° С. In winter, it is more difficult, it will grow, but it will develop slowly, so buying in winter and transportation is highly undesirable.

Vriezia requires special attention to the lighting of the room where it is located. She needs light all year round. In summer, you need to put to the west and cover from direct sunlight on the leaves. And in winter, on the contrary, put it on the windowsill on the south side.

Watering and the importance of moist air

In summer, the earth needs to be moist, and there must be a certain amount of water in the outlet. And most importantly, do not overdo it when the time comes for the growth of the inflorescence. In winter, of course, watering is reduced - once a week, while the soil in the pot is not wet, but dried. If the air temperature is below normal in the room where Vriezia grows, then its outlet must remain dry. But if the care and air temperature are normal, the water is left in the outlet for a couple of hours a day, then soaked. Before watering, the water is protected from impurities, it must be soft.

It is also necessary to monitor the humidity in the room where vriezia grows and develops. To achieve moisture, pebbles or small pieces of moss are placed in the pallet, water is added. Vriezia is not picky about fertilization, except that before flowering, you can use a proven feeding method - fertilizer for orchids.Whatever fertilizer mixtures are used, you need to know that vriezia is not fertilized into the soil, but only into an outlet or by spraying on the leaves. Because the roots do not take any value in nutrition and development of vriezia. To make top dressing, you need to dilute the fertilizer (according to the instructions) in water and pour it into an outlet or spray the entire plant completely.

Transplantation and reproduction of Vriezia

Vriezia does not require a special approach to transplantation. An adult plant is not transplanted for five years. But it is better if you do it after the flowering of the third year. And a young flower is transplanted a couple of times until an inflorescence is formed. The composition of useful and suitable land for vriezia: for one part of peat, sand, turf land, two parts of leaf land. Some flower connoisseurs add sphagnum or chopped moss to the soil.

Vriezia is propagated by children and seeds. Seed propagation is very laborious chores. It is difficult to buy and obtain good quality seeds at home. In addition, Vriezia grown from seeds does not bloom for a long time (they wait 5-10 years).

Therefore, the best way is to reproduce by shoots or children. These shoots are easy to find, immediately after flowering, young children grow from the mother plant. But at first, they should not be separated, since they have no roots, so you need to wait a couple of years when they get stronger and take root.

It is necessary to separate and transplant the processes of a certain size when they have reached a third of the mother's height. The land must also be prepared in advance: one part of sand and pine bark, plus a third of leafy land. With proper care, watering, air humidity and temperatures up to + 24 ° C, after 4 years the young Vriezia will bloom.
