This type of small pests of indoor plants is an all-season, so to speak, insect. However, its most aggressive state is exacerbated in spring and summer. Dot, small black dot, on the back (bottom) side of the paper. What is it? And this is the small larva of the pest thrips. Although the pest is small in size, the harm it causes to a houseplant can be very significant and dangerous for the plant.
It should be noted that in addition to the already adult individual, their larvae are also a considerable danger to the plant. When they breed, they lay eggs. The structure, that is, the arrangement of the eggs laid, if you look at them, it looks like some kind of colonies. And the cell sap of the leaf is their food. Another side effect of them is the occurrence of soot fungus. This is due to their sticky secretions.
What does thrips eat, or rather what kind of plants it loves? Here are some of his favorites: roses, palm trees, laurel, ficuses, dracaena, monsters and lemon, of course. How to identify it? It's very simple - the leaves of the plant begin to change color, or discolor. And the edges of this leaf are covered with many dots. The appearance of brown spots also happens. Note that this may result in the "dying" of the leaf or deformation of the flower.
