Azalea propagation

Azalea propagation

Reproduction azaleas, however, just like maintaining and caring for it is a rather difficult task. However, having studied it, having learned all the tricks and learning how to achieve results, you can safely be proud of yourself. Since the maintenance, care and reproduction of this flower is the height of art for any gardener.

The established plant will turn out to be completely adapted to your conditions, and its longevity and beautiful flowering is already a reward in itself, which is worth the effort. First, you need to postpone the shoots that remain after pruning the azalea or cut off young cuttings that are beginning to lignify especially for its reproduction.

Each shoot must have at least 5 leaves. Then you need to place them for six hours in a composition with a plant growth stimulant, for example, root or heteroauxin. Immediately before planting, the shoots must be soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Now you can plant them, 3-4 pieces in one small pot or a small plastic cup to a depth of 1.5 centimeters.

To do this, we arrange a small greenhouse over each pot.

The soil is best used the same as for adult plants, however, azalea takes root well in the ground from under deciduous plants. A necessary condition for the rooting of a young plant is the creation of a microclimate. To do this, we arrange a small greenhouse over each pot.

In such cases, you can use an ordinary glass jar of a liter volume or build a frame from copper or aluminum wire, on which to put a plastic bag. Now you need to darken the resulting greenhouses. A black cloth is best suited for this, since the azalea takes root in absolute darkness.

It is also important to maintain the optimum temperature for plant rooting, not lower than 18-20 degrees Celsius. During this period, the azalea does not require frequent watering. However, if the soil is dry, it is necessary to moisten it with settled water a little warmer than room temperature.

The rooting process of this flower takes a long time.

The rooting process of this flower lasts long enough, at least two months, and sometimes it takes longer. As soon as it becomes noticeable that the cutting has begun to grow, it is useful to temper the young plant. Carefully, protecting from direct sunlight, remove the greenhouse.

At first, hardening should last no more than an hour. You need to continue until the azalea is completely rooted, gradually increasing the time. As soon as you are sure that the stalk is completely engrafted, you have a young azalea in front of you.
