Planting lilies

Planting lilies. How to plant lilies correctly

Lilies of all varieties are planted in the same way. Although no, the exception is the white lily, there is one caveat. The planting of such a flower is carried out only in August and its bulbs do not need to be deepened, but covered with spruce branches, pine or spruce for the winter. But the land is the same for all lilies. It is a nutritious, loose, light mixture of sand and clay, garden soil. Damp and heavy soils can cause scales to rot. But such soil can be lightened with sand. It is not advisable to add fresh manure. Otherwise, the stem will develop vigorously, which will damage the flowering.

How deep to plant the bulb depends entirely on the type of flower. But there are also universal prescriptions - to plant the onion to a depth equal to three of its diameters. The bottom of the hole is most often covered with sand, in the form of a mound. Needles are also added to the hole, but this method is for some reason little used, although when using it, an excellent result is obtained - the bulbs here are healthy and large.

At this time of year, the most important thing is not to delay landing. As soon as the weather is good and there will be no more severe frosts, you can start planting. But in order to get a healthy and beautiful plant, it is still better to plant lilies at the end of summer. This time is still well suited for reproduction by children, separate the bulbs.
