Top dressing of peppers and eggplants

Top dressing of peppers and eggplants

It is important for a peppers and eggplant gardener to provide them with good nutrition throughout the season. These plants love care and attention: for them, the need for potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus and other trace elements is observed at the time of flowering and fruiting. Not against feeding, and very small bushes still in pots for seedlings.

To enjoy the high yields of vegetables, it is recommended to apply fertilizers at all stages of growing and, above all, do not forget to do this at the very beginning, when the first real leaves appeared. Some summer residents, referring to their experience, in the future prefer to feed the plants at the stage of planting them in open ground, for others it is more convenient to water the beds with fertilizers diluted in water. Everyone has a choice, because there are not so few ways to increase the yield.

One feature should be taken into account: spraying is contraindicated for peppers and eggplants, they absorb all useful substances through the root system. Therefore, be careful, and if fertilizers accidentally get on the leaves, they must be washed off with water.

Top dressing of seedlings of peppers and eggplants

Experienced gardeners adhere to two-time feeding of eggplant and pepper seedlings: at the stage of formation of true leaves and about 1.5 weeks before planting in the ground.

The first feeding of seedlings

To develop immunity and active plant growth, nitrogen-potassium fertilizers are used. So, the first feeding can be of the following options:

  • First option. Dilute about 20-30 grams of Kemira-Lux in about 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 30 grams of potassium nitrate is applied under the roots, after dissolving in a 10-liter bucket of water.
  • The third option. The mixture, for the preparation of which you need 30 g of foskamide and 15 g of superphosphate, is diluted in 10 liters of water.
  • Fourth option. To feed eggplant seedlings, prepare a mixture of 3 tablespoons of superphosphate, 2 teaspoons of potassium sulfate, and 1 teaspoon of ammonium nitrate. Designed for a volume of 10 liters of water.
  • Fifth option. Pepper seedlings are fertilized with the same dressing, but prepared in slightly different proportions - 3 teaspoons of potassium sulfate, 3 tablespoons of superphosphate, 2 teaspoons of saltpeter. The mixture must be diluted in water - 10 liters.

Second feeding of seedlings

Along with nitrogen and potassium, phosphorus and other macro- and microelements should be present in the second feeding.

  • First option. Dissolve 20-30 g of "Kemira-Lux" in water, it will need 10 liters.
  • Second option. 20 grams of "Kristalon" for the same amount of water.
  • The third option. A mixture consisting of 65-75 grams of superphosphate and 25-30 grams of potassium salt must be dissolved in 10 liters of water.

Fertilizing the beds for peppers and eggplants

Summer residents who do not very often visit the planting of vegetables, the method of applying top dressing directly to the ground is suitable. It must be poured into the holes before planting plants on the street.

Fertilizers for eggplant

  • First option. 15 grams of ammonium sulfate, 30 grams of superphosphate and 30 grams of wood ash are mixed and scattered on a square meter of earth.
  • Second option. 30 grams of superphosphate, 15 grams of potassium chloride and the same amount of ammonium sulfate, mixing, are scattered on 1 square meter of earth.

An additional 400 grams of humus can be added to each hole.

Fertilizers for peppers

  • First option. Mix 30 grams of ash and superphosphate, sprinkle top dressing on 1 square meter of earth.
  • Second option. 40 g of superphosphate is mixed with 15-20 g of potassium salt. Top dressing is calculated per square meter of the garden bed.
  • The third option. For each hole, a liter of top dressing is intended, for this half a liter of mullein is dissolved in water heated to a warm state, and the volume is brought to 10 liters.

Before planting the seedlings, it will be useful to add 200 grams of a mixture consisting of equal parts of humus and earth to the holes.

Root dressing of peppers and eggplants after planting in the beds

The summer season for the gardener is a hot season. Growing vegetables takes time and effort, but the joy of the result obtained covers all the inconveniences that I had to experience over the summer. Eggplants and peppers need to be fed quite often - about 3-5 times with an interval of 2 weeks. Top dressing should be at a temperature comfortable for the plants (22-25 degrees), this is very important.

All about fertilizers and dressings for growing peppers and eggplants in the garden

13-15 days after planting the bushes in an open area, the first top dressing should be carried out. During this time, they managed to take root and begin to lack nutrients.

Having prepared the fertilizer, when watering, you need to observe its dosage: a liter can of solution is applied under each bush.

Top dressing of peppers and eggplants during flowering and before fruiting

  • First option. Two glasses of bird droppings or a liter jar of mullein are mixed with a glass of wood ash and diluted in 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 25-30 grams of nitrate is poured into a container with 10 liters of water, mixed.
  • The third option. A liter of nettle herb infusion for one eggplant or pepper bush (Read more in the article "Organic grass fertilizers")
  • Fourth option. 2 teaspoons of superphosphate and the same amount of urea are placed in a bucket of water and 10 liters of water are poured, stirred until dissolved.
  • Fifth option. Dissolve 25-30 grams of superphosphate in water (10 liters) and add a liter jar of mullein there. After mixing, the fertilizer is ready for use.
  • Sixth option. For a 10 liter container of water, you need to take a teaspoon of potassium salt and urea, 2 tablespoons of superphosphate.
  • Seventh option. 500 grams of fresh nettle, one tablespoon of ash and a liter jar of mullein are poured with plain water and infused for 1 week. Water needs 10 liters.

Top dressing of peppers and eggplants during fruiting

Weather conditions play an important role in the development of plants. If you succeed in a rainy and cool summer, then for peppers and eggplants you will need 1/5 more potassium than usual. Wood ash is a source of this important trace element, it is scattered in a half-liter jar per 1 square meter of the garden.

  • First option. 2 teaspoons of potassium salt and the same amount of superphosphate per 10 liters of water.
  • Second option. 1 teaspoon of potassium sulfate in 10 liters of water.
  • The third option. Stir a glass of bird droppings and a liter of mullein in water, add 1 tablespoon of urea to 10 liters of water.
  • Fourth option. Stir 2 cups of chicken manure with 2 tablespoons of nitroammophoska and stir in 10 liters of water.
  • Fifth option. 75 g of urea, 75 g of superphosphate, 15-20 g of potassium chloride per 10 liters of water.
  • Sixth option. 40 g of superphosphate is dissolved in 10 liters of water.

The deficiency of microelements in the soil cannot but affect the productivity of pepper and eggplant. To rectify the situation, you need to feed them either with the "Riga mixture" or with a complex of mineral fertilizers.
