An inherent mistake for those new to floriculture is that the azalea can be transplanted like other indoor flowers. As a result, the plants may die. Azaleas have a very sensitive root system. It has its own microflora, which it grows and maintains throughout its existence. And if this aggregate of microorganisms is disturbed, then the plant will be doomed to perish. For some reason, this fact is not mentioned in publications about plants, although it is very important.
Azalea prefers acidic soil, heather is ideal for a plant. But since in the middle lane it is rarely possible to find just such a soil, then coniferous is quite suitable.
Many venerable flower growers recommend using this soil in its pure form. Only it is not clear what does it mean in "pure form"? After all, coniferous soil (land in the forest) is in 90% of cases more than half loam or sand. If you transplant an azalea into a land like this, the result will be disastrous. It is better to choose a different path and prepare a mixture of substrate and coniferous soil. The substrate itself is easy to prepare, you need to take the same parts of sand, humus, peat, turf and leafy soil. This is the simplest recipe and mix everything 1: 1 with coniferous earth. The mixture is not heavy, quite nutritious and acidic, the azalea plant feels great in it.
With the soil, everything is now clear. And now the most difficult thing is how to change the soil so as not to catch the microflora. Having pulled out a plant with a lump of earth from the pot, you can see that the roots of the azalea have entwined everything and it is not so easy to free them from the soil. You can do this. It is not at all necessary to clean the entire lump, but you still have to top it up. For a year, a lot of salt from fertilizers has accumulated here, and this does not give health to the plant. You need to put the plant in water, for example, in a bucket, so the earth will get wet and the salts will be washed out. Change the water 2-3 times, it should be the same as for irrigation - settled and warm (only non-flowing). As a result of such actions, about a third (no more) of the earth will be washed out. Further, you need to do everything as during transshipment or according to the principle of partial transfer.
To all that has been said, it still needs to be added, and this is important - the azalea has a superficial root system, so it will be better for it if you take a shallow but wide pot. This must be taken into account when replanting the azalea. If everything is done correctly, then the flower will not hurt, but only please with its beauty.
Hello, and if you planted an azalea not in a flat pot, but an ordinary one, what bad could happen?
