How to make compost at home
In plastic bottles, the upper and lower parts are cut out, thus cylindrical elements of the same size are obtained, they are tightly located at the bottom of the bucket. Such elements serve as drainage and prevent the waste bag from touching the bottom of the bucket.
Several holes are made at the bottom of the garbage bag to allow excess liquid to escape. After that, the bag is placed in a prepared container, that is, a bucket. Then the bag is filled with cleanings and waste by 3 centimeters, after which the EM liquid is diluted, following the instructions, usually 5 milliliters of the drug is added to 0.5 liters of water. The prepared liquid is poured into a spray bottle, and the waste is sprayed, air is released from the bag as much as possible, tied up, and a load is placed on top, for this you can use bricks or a large bottle of water.
During the entire time, excess liquid flows into the bottom of the bucket, it is removed once every few days. But it's not worth pouring it out just like that, you can clean drain pipes and sewers with EM liquid, or wash animal toilets. Also, the preparation remaining after the compost can be diluted with water 1 to 10, and used as top dressing for indoor plants.
This procedure must be carried out until the garbage bag is full, depending on the accumulated waste. Then it is placed in a warm place and left for seven days. After a week, the wet compost is mixed with the prepared soil and poured into a large polyethylene bag.
After that, the compost is considered cooked, it can be placed in the open air or on a balcony, if it is an apartment, and then periodically added to a new batch of organic fertilizer.
When making compost, there is no pungent rotting smell thanks to a special EM-agent. This problem arises when using various marinades in the compost; white bloom or mold may even appear on top.
In the spring, you can feed indoor plants or seedlings with prepared compost; it is also used in summer cottages as a fertilizer. During the winter period, they are engaged in self-preparation of compost, and in the spring it is used as a top dressing for various plants.
For self-preparation of compost, no special tools are required; you can use any convenient containers used on the farm. A high-quality organic fertilizer can be obtained from food waste, which is used to feed seedlings, indoor and garden plants. Self-composting does not require much work or special skills.
