The Anredera plant is a member of the Basell family. Refers to herbaceous perennials that grow naturally in the tropical forests of Asia and South America.
Anredera is a herbaceous perennial vine that grows quickly and has long, curly shoots. The root system has brown-gray pineal clusters. In an adult plant, the root system protrudes above the ground. Leaves are dense, fleshy, heart-shaped. It blooms with spike or racemose inflorescences. The flowers are small, inconspicuous, but have a wonderful aroma. The peduncle grows from the leaf sinus.
Caring for anredera at home
Location and lighting
Anredera grows well in bright, diffused light. You can also place it in direct sunlight, but you need to accustom the plant to them gradually. However, a little shading will not harm the plant, especially in the summer midday heat.
Temperature
In spring and summer, anredera can be grown in temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. In autumn, the temperature of the content decreases - about 12-17 degrees. In winter, during the dormant period, the tubers are stored at a temperature of 10 to 15 degrees.
Watering
In the spring-summer period, the anredder is in an active growth stage and needs abundant watering as the topsoil dries up. In autumn, watering is gradually reduced. In winter, after the shoots die off, watering stops altogether. When storing tubers in a cool room, you do not need to water the soil, but if the temperature is above 15 degrees, then the soil is periodically moistened.
Air humidity
Anredera grows well in rooms with low levels of humidity. It is not necessary to provide additional moisture, the leaves are also not sprayed.
The soil
The soil mixture for planting anreder should be nutritious and well moisture and air permeable. To prepare the soil, humus, leafy soil, peat and sand are mixed in equal parts. The bottom of the pot should have a good drainage layer.
Top dressing and fertilizers
Twice a month, the flower needs additional fertilizing. Fertilize the plant only between March and September. In winter, at rest, the plant does not need additional fertilization.
Transfer
The plant needs replanting only when the root system completely fills the pot. The transplant is carried out in the spring months.
Reproduction of unredera
There are several ways to propagate anredera: using seeds, cuttings or tubers. Air tubers are formed in the axils of the leaves, which are also suitable for plant propagation. Seeds are planted in the spring in the ground and kept in greenhouse conditions until germination, periodically ventilating and moisturizing the soil. Cuttings-shoots are rooted in greenhouse conditions in a nutrient mixture.
Diseases and pests
Among pests, the flower can be affected by spider mites, aphids and mealybugs. You can fight them with chemicals.
Types and varieties of anredera with photos and names
Anredera cordifolia
The most common representative is a herbaceous perennial, a climbing liana. Shoots can reach a height of about 3-6 m. The rhizome consists of tubers. New tubers can form both on the mother rhizome and in the leaf axils. The length of each leaf is 7 cm, the width is 2-3 cm, the shape is oval. Smooth, shiny, bright green to the touch. Fragrant flowers are found in spikelets.
